Our History
The National Pensioners And Senior Citizens Federation (NPSCF) is a democratic, non-political, non-sectarian organization. Our Mission has remained the same for fifty years, the issues are as important today as when we started.
The NPSCF was started in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, by provincial organizations from British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Groups from other provinces have since joined.
It is made up of provincial affiliates, groups, clubs, and individuals.

Our Achievements:
Pensions
Our fight began more than 50 years ago for a better universal Old Age Security and the Canada Pension Plan. We fought and won against Seniors Benefit and against harsher cuts to the CPP. But we must keep up the fight for higher benefits for the poorest seniors, and against drawbacks and cuts.
Health
We helped put pressure on for universal health car, and we continue to fight against it erosion. Privatization and two -tier health car threaten Medicare. Our goal is to get home care and pharmacies as part of medicare.
Education Projects
We work with older Canadians to develop way s to get to hard-to-reach seniors about drugs; to help seniors and their families act on end-of-life issues; to help seniors stay active through exercise, self help, and keeping informed.
Taking the Message to Ottawa
Through briefs, letters and projects, the National Pensioners and Senior Citizens Federation makes sure our elected officials and policy makers hear from older Canadians. Our annual brief is prepared from the resolution discussed and passed at our annual convention. We also make a pre-budget submission, and briefs on subjects like Multilateral Agreement on Investment (MAI), the Public Pension System, telemarketing fraud, the high cost of brand name drugs, the GST, and banking. It's important that Ottawa know what seniors think.
Working with others
Partnerships with organizations like the Canadian Health Coalition, the Canadian Drug Manufactures Association, the Canadian MedicAlert Foundation, Congress of Union Retirees Canada, Action Canada Network and other groups help strengthen out voice.
